Terrific Tips for Parents Who Want To Teach Their Child A Second Language
You realize the benefits of having a second language, but do you know where to turn or how to begin the process of teaching your little one a second language?
Ice Painting
Ice painting is a unique and different way to paint. Your child will soon learn how the three basic colors he sprinkles on the paper can change as they mix together into all the other colors in the spectrum.
Fun Preschool Activity - WHY DO I HAVE TO...
When your child arrives at the point in their preschool years when they understand that the rules you have made for him can be questioned you will most likely hear these words, "Why do I have to----?
A Kindergartner's Rules for Life
As I watched the twenty-four members of my son's preschool class proudly hoist up their good pants and walk out onto the stage to receive their diploma, I could hardly believe my eyes. It seemed like only yesterday they were squishing clay through their hands or finger-painting or figuring out the mystery of putting on their own socks. Now they were graduating.
Field Trips with Tot Appeal
Field trips are both educational and entertaining, and your children do not have to be in school to enjoy them. In fact, toddlers and preschoolers enjoy field trips as much as their older siblings do. Even with your older children home from school during summer break, plan a few outings for both sets this summer.
Fun Preschool Activity - Mommy Cat/Baby Kitten
When you play this game with your preschooler, you not only have a lot of fun, you'll be training her to fine tune her hearing. The more discriminating she can be when she hears sounds, the easier it will be for her to hear and remember the sounds individual letters make. This, of course, will help make her a good reader.
Why Potty Training should be spelt R E L A X
As a child care provider I have spent more than my share of time potty training children. On average I begin child care when a child reaches 1 years old and graduates from their infant-only program. Inevitably that first year the questions begin about potty-training the life or death struggle that parents feel they must go through with their toddler.
Fun Preschool Activity - Letter Groups
Once your preschooler is familiar with letters and can say or sing the alphabet song, he is ready to begin to learn what letters look like. Teaching him to recognize each letter is easier if you do it in letter groups. Start at the beginning and be sure to only use the first group of letters until you feel your child can identify the letters even when they are all mixed up. Remember, learning in small steps is easier for your child. He will retain what is taught faster this way, than if you expose him to too much, too soon.
Fun Preschool Activity - Shape Squat
Our shape squat game will help young children soon learn the names and configuration of each shape. It is also a wonderful game for developing a young child's gross motor skills. If your child is ready, and you can find various colored tablecloths you can also help him learn the names of colors. Use each shape more than once in the game and make them each different colors. Then, when you stop the music, your child must find the "red square" etc. Thus, he must follow two directions and learn two concepts, shape AND color, while having fun playing the game.
Preschool Activity - Alphabet Blocks
Alphabet blocks with just one letter on each block are a great toy to have for your preschool child. You'll find she can learn a great deal through playing with them, especially with you. Not only can she become the architect of great buildings, roads or skyscrapers (which are fun to knock down), but building can also help budding coordination skills. |
